Coverage
I always hunt for efficient, thoughtful coverage that breaks up the usual Wide shot, Close Up, Close up. That way, when we do sit in Close Ups, they feel important.
Something I find useful is finding beats in a script to enhance punchlines, mood shifts and support a forward momentum.
SFX & VFX
I spoke with some VFX people, as well ad DPs, who have shot summer for winter. I gathered a handful of tips and tricks. These pics aren’t great, but you can see green trees that they turned into fall foliage. There are less expensive ways to approach this and then you choose an important few moments to enhance the winter feel with VFX.
